  • Authors are required to use the abstract headings listed in the submission portal.
  • There is no fee for submitting an abstract.
  • Abstracts must not exceed 250 words (excluding headings) and should follow the instructions within the portal.
  • The use of abbreviations and acronyms should be kept to a minimum.
  • Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed.
  • Communication regarding the abstract will be sent only to the submitting author.
  • All submissions must be made via the online abstract submission portal and adhere to the submission guidelines. Failure to do so will result in your abstract being declined. Emailed submissions will not be accepted.
  • All abstracts must be received by the advertised closing date. Submissions received after this date will not be considered.
  • Abstracts are not to include promotions of specific products/or services, unless they are integral to the context of the topic.
  • Accepted authors agree to have their abstract published in the digital abstract book. Authors must ensure their abstract is accurate, clear, and fully proofread before submitting, as Lung Foundation Australia takes no responsibility for errors in published abstracts.
  • Abstracts may be accepted in a different format or on a different theme than that indicated in the submission.
  • Accepted presenters must register to attend the conference and are responsible for their own travel and accommodation.
  • Accepted presenters must be available to present on any day of the conference, as decided by Lung Foundation Australia.

Encore abstracts

  • Proviso: authors must identify as an encore abstract at submission. If an author identifies an encore abstract, they must confirm:
  • The event/audience presented to previously
  • Content – is the abstract identical or has it been updated since last presented?
  • If accepted, status as an encore abstract to be stated clearly in writing on poster/orally during presentation
  • Regarding acceptability for oral presentation – there are existing precedents for encore abstracts eligible for poster only (e.g. World Lung). However, considerations for ALCC will be made case by case and based on merit. Acceptability for oral presentation will be determined during abstract reviews in September.
