Early & Mid Career Researcher Workshop

Calling all lung cancer Early and Mid Career Researchers (EMCRs)! Join us for emerging lung researcher events at ALCC23 to share, grow and connect with lung health leaders. We have an exciting program lined up for EMCRs to:

  1. Build your brand and craft your CV beyond publications to create meaningful impact
  2. Showcase your research in an emerging lung health leaders session (make sure you opt in to present during the registration process)
  3. Hear from lung health leaders with diverse backgrounds and career trajectories, and get tips to develop your career strategy
  4. Hear from experts about implementation science and diversifying your research + collaborations from a clinician researcher’s perspective
  5. Learn about experiences of and building partnerships with consumers in research in cross over sessions with the ANZ Lung Cancer Nurses Forum and Consumer Advocates Workshop
  6. Join us at our ‘Meet the experts’ event to learn how to get the most out of networking. Then, put your new skills into practice during a speed networking session with inspiring international and national researchers, clinicians and advocates

We’re looking forward to providing an environment that facilitates all attendees to share, grow and connect as emerging lung health leaders. There are award opportunities for EMCR presenters too!

Nursing and Allied Health Workshop

Are you a nurse or allied health professional working with people with lung cancer?

Are you a nurse or allied health professional working with people with lung cancer? Join us for this interactive one-day workshop to connect with and hear from national and international lung health leaders; consumers, clinicians and researchers. Program highlights include:

  1. Interactive sessions and practical tips around smoking cessation, telehealth support, communication in complex settings with Prof. Iain Lawrie, and behaviour change.
  2. Updates on lung cancer screening with A/Prof Emily Stone.
  3. Practical workshops on respiratory assessment and management of dyspnoea with NP Cassandra Dickens and physio Amy Bowman
  4. Hear about experiences of survivorship from a young consumer’s perspective.
  5. An update on what’s happening across the ditch (NZ!)
  6. Participate in a research masterclass run by senior researchers
  7. Learn about experiences of and building partnerships with consumers in clinical practice and research in joint sessions with the Consumer Advocates and Early & Mid-Career Researcher Workshops.

Travel grants of up to $750 are available (further information to be available soon)

Consumer Advocate Workshop

This full-day workshop will bring together patients, carers and their loved ones in to connect and share information ahead of the ALCC23 scientific program. Hear from your fellow Consumer Advocates and other invited guests in an interactive and collaborative session. Program highlights include important advocacy updates from Lung Foundation Australia, an overview on successes and challenges of recent years, as well as current and emerging opportunities for driving change in lung cancer. The innovative 2023 program includes structured networking opportunities with Lung Cancer Nurses and Early and Mid-Career Researchers. The full agenda and speakers will be announced over the coming months.

Consumer Advocates are an integral part of the lung cancer community, and Lung Foundation Australia is committed to embedding the lived experience of lung cancer throughout ALCC23. To facilitate this, we are delighted to offer travel and registration support for 20 Consumer Advocates from around Australia, and registration for a further 10 Consumer Advocates with local access to the Gold Coast.
